Tom Sato, Vice President of Mortgage Lending at Guaranteed Rate, is an accomplished professional with over 18 years of mortgage industry background. As a native New Yorker, he began originating loans with NovaStar Home Mortgage in Long Island as a top performing branch manager. Later, as a business development executive, he marketed software systems and home valuation analytics to the largest financial institutions and lenders in the mortgage industry. Upon relocating to the DC area in 2014, Tom was a senior asset manager responsible for an approximately 200 loan portfolios of distressed properties, directing the investor focus to rehab and renovate bank-owned properties or liquidate on the open market as an “AS-IS” sale based on his analysis.
Tom’s expertise includes; first-time homebuyers, buyer education, conventional & non-conforming loan programs, government FHA/VA, residential, mixed-use, commercial, jumbo, foreign national programs, renovation & 203k rehab loans. Mr. Sato is passionate about empowering the community, local businesses, small business owners, and entrepreneurs. With insight into mortgage programs and structuring financial solutions to effectively guide individual families and investors alike, he works energetically to reach his main goal, to help people achieve and build wealth through homeownership.
Sato began receiving recognition early in his career with a Chase Quality Broker and Multi-Million Dollar Club Awards and successfully ran the highest producing branch for NovaStar in 2002-2004 and has continued to leave his mark moderating and participating on panels for the real estate trade groups; Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA) and the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP) where he educated real estate professionals on the state of bank-owned properties (REO’s) and best practices on buying bank-owned properties. Before relocating to DC, Tom was the Vice President of the New York Manhattan chapter of Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA) from 2013-2014 and spearheaded the Northeast Default Committee for AREAA (2012-2013).
Tom is an enthusiastic member of the community and enjoys golf, biking and hiking various trails in the DC area and frequently travels back to New York City to see his friends and family.
