What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
My process is always Conversation, Application, Documentation. Based on the 2 most important questions: 1) Where do you want and need your monthly payment to be- to be comfortable, and still enjoy life, still enjoy your hobbies and family... and 2) Where do you want and need your Down Payment to be? Once these 2 items are identified, we then offer the financing strategies. My biggest goal for each client is to give them every option to Avoid PMI... you can avoid PMI with as little is 5% down...
How has the mortgage industry changed since you started, and what would you expect in the future?
The Mortgage industry has been nothing short of historical over the last 10 years... the collapse of the market and the economy, which led to the recession was a result of irresponsible lending and regulations. As Mortgage Bankers we are specialists in our field. I know that there are mortgage strategies that we can put in place that other banks cannot... I write loans for Loan Officers at Big Banks... I'm the Banker's Mortgage Lender. We are licensed individually, require ongoing education every year, finger prints, credit reports, you name it!! I whole- heartedly support our licensing requirements... because flat out- we are giving advice on the largest debt someone is going to carry...
What part of the home loan process do customers find most difficult and how do you help them through it?
One of the most challenging parts of the mortgage process is documentation... we like to call them "cans of worms" in some cases... because one document can open the door to needing "Another document". Movement of money from bank accounts to other accounts, and back and forth, etc... can cause a paperwork head ache. There are many "red flags" when paperwork is gathered... and we like to be as proactive as possible to prepare our clients for what might happen and how we can avoid it!
Summary of where you grew up: family, affiliations, college, high school, etc.
I'm a St Louis native! Been here my whole life (with the exception of a 2 year hiatus in Arizona- and it was wonderful!) I come from good ole North County where I was raised and the end all St Louis question of "Where did you go to high school?"- would be- Hazelwood Central! I've now been in St Charles County for more than 20 years, and I live in Wentzville. I'm a big part of the community in Wentzville and the county in general, because I care so much about my community. I've been a member of the Rotary Club where I helped raise funds for local schools and child abuse centers.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
Most People don't know this, but I hiked the Grand Canyon 12 miles down to the bottom... covered 60 miles in 5 days... and played with the Supai Indians! There is an entire city a the bottom of the Grand Canyon with a grocery store, restaurant and amazing water falls! You should try Havasupai Falls... it's amazing
