About Troy

I entered the mortgage industry in 1996 shortly after purchasing my 1st home. Going through the process of buying a home, I realized how stressful the process of getting a mortgage was, and how the lack of communication compounded that stress. In the end though I realized the importance and the sense of pride of owning my own home. It was at that point that I realized and was driven by the reality that every person-regardless of age or any other differentiating factor has one critical need in common: A roof over their head. My mission in business and in life is about building strength...strength in family, finances, and communities-and homeownership is the way!

In the past 20 years, I have worn many hats from loan officer, sales manager, branch manager, area manager, and business development and implementation. My sales strategies, systems implementation, and business development have advanced the interests of my clients, my partners, and have helped the companies I've worked with to grow. I thrive on using my experience to continually improve the process of getting a loan and improving the experience of all those involved. This commitment has led to many distinguished honors such as: Certified Path2Buy Coach, Certified Mortgage Planning Specialist, Certified Divorce Planning Professional, MMS, Homes for Heroes Chief Officer and other honors. I know the importance of security to the health and happiness of families and have made it my duty to promote and help create that throughout my career.

When not at work, I cherish my time with my 2 sons Aidan and Nate. When I'm not with them you may find me near a Rugby match watching the sport I loved playing throughout college. I also love my workouts in MMA training either doing Boxing, Muay-Thai, or Jiu-Jitsu.

Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
I work with all types of customers from 1st time homebuyers to move up buyers to investors. I realize that every single client's situation is different and every clients needs are different. That's why I have a consultative approach asking many questions so we can be sure to take each client's specific needs and situation into account.
How has the mortgage industry changed since you started, and what would you expect in the future?
When I started in the mortgage industry we used common sense, responsible lending ideas. There were no credit scores on credit reports, there were no Automated Underwriting Systems. We used common sense. The thought process to fight for a loan was if it was my personal money, would I lend it on this mortgage. The industry got way too lenient with allowing several programs that were wrong for most clients. Now it has swung so far the other way, being too restrictive and over regulated. In the future I see the mortgage industry settling back into what it once was. Creating a normalcy for common sense and responsible lending.
What can borrowers do to insure a smooth mortgage underwriting process?
One of the biggest obstacles for smooth on time closings is controlled by the borrowers themselves. The largest timeframe that is used up in the mortgage process is gathering all of the documentation that is requested from the borrowers. To ensure a smooth mortgage underwriting process the borrowers can definitely help by sending in what is requested within a 24 hour timeframe.
What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
I love helping people. Whether that's helping my clients obtain a new home or giving my referral partners strategies and helping them sell more homes. I love consulting with my clients about their specific situation and needs to help them find the best mortgage for their needs. I love the satisfaction of seeing happy closings when all parties of the transaction are happy with my and my company's service.
