- Hi, I am Matt Paradis and I have been in the mortgage business for 25 years. My career began with a 1986 loan officer stint with Citibank in Chicago. I have an extensive background in all aspects of the mortgage business including banking, mortgage banking and brokering, as well as experience managing my own business. I'm told I am keenly aware of how all the processes within a company can affect the service rendered to the customer.
- Service is my primary focus. The best part of originating loans for me is helping the customer. I enjoy answering questions and strive to make the whole experience comfortable - especially for nervous first-time buyers. I have never sidestepped a challenging situation and I don't plan to do so in the future.
- I am especially good at explaining details in clear terms that people can understand. I'm very adept with the latest technology (thanks to my teenage daughters) and that means my loan approvals take minutes, not weeks. I am a problem solver at heart. I will do all I can to find the optimal solution for each customer's situation.
How long have you been in the mortgage business and what inspired you to get into it?

After 26 years in the mortgage business, my favorite part is still helping my customers look at their needs and budget to find the best price range and mortgage option for their new home. To best serve people, you have to help them decide what they really want to spend each month, and then look for the home that suits their needs and budget.
How has the mortgage industry changed since you started, and what would you expect in the future?
Over my career, the mortgage business has gone from complicated, to oversimplified to complicated again. The only thing I can guarantee is that it will continue to evolve. My job has always been to know the process and programs inside and out so I can make good recommendations to my customers, and make the process simple for them no matter how complex the market has become. Having worked with first time buyers, Super Jumbos, construction loans and even FHA 203k loans, I can navigate whatever loan a customer needs. Right now it is a great market for First Time Buyers, or for existing home owners to refinance. As the economy improves, we will again see value appreciate.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
The media has gotten people too concerned. Many people are worried that they need a lot of money for a down payment, won’t qualify for a loan or loan program like HARP, or that the process will be difficult. In the first 10 minutes on the phone with my customers, I want to alleviate their concerns, hear what their needs are, and go to work on making a home loan easy no matter what their situation is.
What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time when you are not helping people with their home loans?
I am a cyclist and triathlete. I love coaching kids and have coached youth and junior triathlon for 10 years. My best memories are running the Delnor Kids Tri and seeing the little kids race. The looks on their face tell it all - happiness, excitement, determination.
Tell us something that makes you unique or something wacky, yet interesting about you?
