When you are considering taking on a significant financial commitment, like buying a home or refinancing a loan, you are likely approaching one of the most important decisions of your life. And when you are choosing a loan officer to assist you, you want to know that you'll be working with someone you can trust and who has values that are important to you during what can be a stressful, complicated process.

I'd like you to learn a little bit about me as you consider your choices. When you work with me, you will have direct access to my experience—about two decade's worth. Over those years, I've learned there are many challenges that can arise during the loan process, primarily due to the number of steps and people involved. Who is your typical customer and what questions do they typically have?
I typically work with three categories of buyers. First time home buyers who have limited experience in the process of buying a home, but usually pretty knowledgeable about the area in which they are looking to buy. Repeat clients who have worked with me in the past and those who had bad experiences with other mortgage companies. And finally self-employed and savvy buyers who often times have multiple properties and need a depth of knowledge to understand how to evaluate complex tax returns.
What specific steps do you use to help your customers find the best home loan for them?
My process is pretty basic and usually similar for most of my clients when helping them evaluate their loan options. I like to talk to my clients about the price range and monthly payment targets, then work together on reviewing loan scenarios to chart out different home mortgages. I have found that having confidence in buying starts with the numbers, so this is a stage that I do not like to rush.
What are the top 3 misconceptions people have about the home loan process?
Most people think that 20% down is required to buy a home, but that could not be further from the truth. We have home loans that do not require any money as a down payment... keep in mind, there still may be closing costs. Another misconception is credit score. I have found that people sometimes think their score is awful, but then once we pull it, it's better than expected. We only need a 580 FICO to get a loan completed. The 3 most popular misconception is PMI. There are about 5 common strategies to eliminate the PMI (private mortgage insurance). Let's talk about ways to get rid of your PMI once and for all!!

What provides you with the most satisfaction in your job as a Loan Officer?
Before mortgages, I was working in the technology space, often times on projects that would last months. The limited interaction made it difficult to receive feedback. My change into mortgage real estate financing was immediately different. Being able to meet with home buyers, talk about their needs, helping them get financing, and then being with them at the settlement table is such a great feeling.
